Winter Weather Updates for Montgomery County on January 16

On Tuesday, January 16, 2018 the National Weather Service shared that temperatures will fall throughout the day with Southeast Texas receiving rain that will gradually change over to a wintry mix resulting in hazardous driving conditions.

Tuesday night is forecasted to have low temperatures ranging from the teens north to the 20’s all the way to the coast. A Hard Freeze Warning and a Wind Chill Advisory may be issued.

UPDATES for Montgomery County

Many schools, school districts, businesses, and Montgomery County Offices announced that they will be closed on Tuesday, January 16. View list of Schools here

Commissioner James Noack of Montgomery County Pct. 3: “As expected, temperatures have fallen below freezing as a wintry mix of rain and ice is falling. Hazardous driving conditions are expected! Please avoid driving today at all costs. Precinct 3 crews are out surveying and prepping for hazardous road conditions and will be throughout the day and into the evening.”

7 am – Houston Bush Airport: “Inclement weather in and around the Houston area, as well as across the country, has impacted flights in and out of the Houston Airports this morning. Please check with your airline on the status of your flights before heading to the airport. Nearly 500 total cancellations today due to weather.”

7:30 am – Northstar – MCTX: “As of 7:30 am all roads and bridges remain passable in Precinct 3.”

7:37 am – The Woodlands Transit: “The Woodlands Express will operate on the Friday schedule today. Extra midday runs for passengers wanting to leave work early.”

8:07 am – Montgomery County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management: “The Elections office will be open to receive campaign finance reports. Today is the filing deadline.”

8:21 am – Northstar – MCTX: “Ice on Road – Woodlands/Parkway Robinson bridge over I45 – Crews en route.

8:36 am – Houston Transtar: IH45 Northbound at Lake Woodlands Dr/Woodson – Ice on roadway (verified at 8:32am, 1 lane affected)

8:53 a.m. Commissioner James Noack: “Our crews are currently out sanding the bridges and flyovers in Precinct 3. All roads are still open however small amounts of ice have started to accumulate at the following locations:
– Woodlands Parkway/Robinson Road @I45 overpass, Lake Woodlands between Lake Front and Northshore.
Hazardous conditions are not limited to the areas listed so if you are out, please proceed with extreme caution. Again, we recommend everyone stay safe and warm at home today.”

9:20 am – Ice on Roadway – I45 @ 242 bridge – mainlanes and bridge shut down (Northstar MCTX)

-Lake Robbins Drive from Anadarko to I-45 in both directions.
-Woodlands Parkway bridge from Many Pines to Robinson Road.
-Lake Woodlands bridge over Lake Woodlands is closed in both directions.
