Volunteers Needed for Community Tree Planting Event in The Woodlands
THE WOODLANDS, TX – The community will come together to keep the woods in The Woodlands at the fifth annual Community Tree Planting event Saturday, February 9, 2019, from 8:00 a.m. to noon at Spindle Tree Ponds Park in the Village of Sterling Ridge.
All ages are encouraged to get their hands dirty planting thousands of native trees, wildflowers and milkweed plants. This effort supports The Woodlands Township’s reforestation program as well as its Plant for Pollinators program that helps protect our native bees, butterflies and moths.
Trees and plants will vary in species and size, ranging from seedlings up to 30-gallon pots. The variety enables residents of all ages and fitness levels to participate. A memorable experience for families, clubs, neighborhoods and friends, the planting will be supervised by the Forestry Division, who will pre-dig holes for the larger specimens.
Registration is required for this event and pre-registration is encouraged, especially for groups. Pre-registration can be found online at www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov/environment. On-site registration will also be available at the event.
Centerpoint Energy, Trees for Houston and the Howard Hughes Corporation are also proud partners for this event. For more information, please call 281-210-3800 or visit www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov/environment.
