Update on Water Line Repairs on Research Forest Drive

By  |

THE WOODLANDS, TX — Tropical Storm Imelda has affected the contractor’s timeline for repairs to the eastbound lanes of Research Forest Drive near Technology Forest Drive.

San Jacinto River Authority (SJRA) is aware of the immense inconvenience this has caused and is working diligently with its contractors to get the line up and running and the road repaired as safely and as quickly as possible.

The eastbound lanes of Research Forest Drive remain closed to repair damage to a 30-inch water line. The westbound lanes are open. The leak is isolated to a 20-foot section of underground pipe. The damaged pipe section has been removed and the line temporarily capped.

SJRA has traffic officers present, however, drivers should avoid the area if possible. Alternative routes include Woodlands Parkway, Lake Woodlands Drive, Texas 242, and FM 1488.

SJRA continues to work closely with Montgomery County Precinct 3 and the Montgomery County Constable’s Office. The Woodlands is not anticipated to have any interruption of water service during the process. Businesses are not expected to be significantly impacted as this section of Research Forest Drive has no direct entry sites or driveways that are obstructed.

Please continue to check SJRA on Facebook @SanJacintoRiverAuthority or Twitter @SJRA_1937 for updates.
