Tropical disturbance in Gulf brings possibility of heavy rain this weekend

By  |

SPRING, TX – A tropical system moving into Southeast Texas this weekend is expected to bring anywhere from 2-5 inches of rain to Montgomery County, according to the National Weather Service.

Residents should prepare for scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout the weekend, with the most intense rainfall expected Sunday afternoon through Monday evening.

The heavy rainfall could cause flooding on streets and in low-lying areas. Residents are advised to stay off of roads during periods of intense rainfall. Those who must drive should proceed with caution and avoid standing and rushing water. Please observe high-water crossing signs. Creeks and tributaries also could experience a fast rise in water during the storms.

Residents can monitor the current stream levels and view forecasts for creeks and tributaries by using the NWS Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service at https://water.weather.gov/ahps2/index.php?wfo=hgx.
