Township Walk in the Woods lecture series

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS – The Woodlands Township continues its 17th year of the Walk in the Woods Nature Lecture Series with three wildlife experts presenting to the public this fall.  Providing an introduction to unique species that inhabit our community, this family-friendly lecture series is enjoyed by nature enthusiasts of all ages.

The location for Walk in the Woods Nature Lecture Series will be at Houston Advanced Research Center (HARC), located at 8801 Gosling Road.  All lectures are from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Space is limited, so registering early is recommended. Attendees may register online at www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov/environment.

Topics include Our Neighborhood Bats on September 12, 2019, presented by Diana Foss from Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.  Diana discusses the habitats, behaviors and threats to bats living in urban areas.  

Vampires, Zombies and Body snatchers will be on October 10, 2019, led by Megan McNairn of The Woodlands Township Environmental Services Department. Megan dives into the creepy crawly world of bugs where monsters come to life and ghoulish creatures go bump in the night. Join this lecture which is sure to leave goose bumps that will last past Halloween!

The lecture series concludes on November 14, 2019, with a presentation by Alisa Kline from Buffalo Bayou Park.  Alisa offers tools and techniques for observing birds and behaviors and the benefits of documenting observations through iNaturalist during her lecture: An Introduction to Birds of The Woodlands.
