The Woodlands Christian Academy Distance Learning provides Virtual Lessons

By  |

THE WOODLANDS, TX – Upon reconvening from Spring Break, The Woodlands Christian Academy began its distance learning program, providing students in Pre-K-12th grade a virtual learning structure.

As one of only 400 institutions worldwide recognized as an Apple Distinguished School, the school was able to establish a fully integrated platform immediately. According to Janet Coe, Director of Technology and Innovation, “Woodlands Christian cultivates an environment of innovative learning which prepared teachers to be more than ready for distance learning.”

Despite the circumstances to go fully online, the focus on innovation and creativity has not wavered. Tanya Sharron, who leads the school’s lower school STEAM program, challenged teachers to consider what creativity could look like at Woodlands Christian, which has translated into unique lessons, even in the distance learning setting. Both Sharron and Coe worked through Spring Break, coaching faculty and staff through conference calls, and providing resources to equip teachers for the online classroom.

Principals have received numerous letters from thankful parents about the shift to the virtual classroom. One lower school parent said, “the teachers at Woodlands Christian do an outstanding job. They truly go above and beyond! The distance learning rollout has been smooth, the lessons are spot on, and the teachers have remained positive and helpful every step of the way.” Students feel the same way. Senior Nick Bryngelson commented, “I realize this is a whole new challenge and so far, it’s been very streamlined! I am thankful for the teachers and administrators who are working around the clock to make sure we still learn in these circumstances.”

The Woodlands Christian Academy is a PreK to 12th grade college preparatory school that integrates learning with biblical faith and challenges students to reach their highest potential – spiritually, academically, physically and socially. The school is continuing to accept applications for the 2020-2021 school year. The Admissions Team is available to answer questions and guide potential families through the enrollment process virtually. For more information visit twca.net.
