Sheriff Investigates Fatal Stabbing in The Woodlands

As of Thursday, May 30, Detectives with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Homicide/Violent Crimes Unit are continuing their investigation regarding the stabbing that happened on May 28, 2019 at the Plantation Apartments.

At this point in the investigation, the victim has been identified as Austin Bryce Utley, a 30 year old white male. The employee of the apartment complex, Bryan Keith Spann, a 44 year old black male, has retained the services of a lawyer and the investigation is still ongoing at his point. No charges have been filed at this time and are pending the results of the investigation.

Original Release May 28, 2019: On May 28, 2019 at 6:37 PM, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to 3720 College Park Drive, The Woodlands, in reference to a stabbing. Upon arrival at the Plantation Apartments, Deputies discovered one white male with apparent stab wounds. The male was transported to a local emergency room where he succumbed to his wounds. One black male, an employee of the apartment complex, is currently being questioned by Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Homicide/Violent Crimes Unit.

There is no other information at this time as this is an active investigation. All parties in this incident have been identified ands accounted for and there is no threat to the community.
