Sheriff Deputies and Community come together at Coffee with a Cop

By  |

Deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and community members came together to discuss local issues, build relationships, and drink coffee on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 from 7:00 am-9:00 am at the Dosey Doe Breakfast & BBQ located at 2626 Research Forest Drive in The Woodlands, TX.  Coffee with a Cop provided a unique opportunity for community members to ask questions and learn more about the Sheriff’s Office work in the community.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office shared that, “Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our Community Partners and incredible citizens for making our coffee with a cop event a success yesterday. Dosey Doe was a great host, and the turnout from our community was superb. Again, we want to say “Thank You!” to our community for the continued support you offer all law enforcement in the Montgomery County area. Stay tuned as more events like this are sure to come in the very near future!”

The majority of the contact law enforcement has with the public happen during emergencies, or emotional situations. Those situations are not always the most effective times for relationship building with the community, and some community members may feel that officers are unapproachable on the street. Coffee with a Cop breaks down barriers and allows for a relaxed, one-on-one interaction.

Coffee with a Cop is a national initiative supported by The United States Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services. Similar events are being held across the county, as we strive to make lasting connections with the community. The program aims to advance the practice of community policing through improving relationships between police officers and community members one cup of coffee at a time.
