Sheriff Celebrates 2nd Anniversary of V.E.T.S. Program

On May 1, 2019, The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office celebrated the second anniversary of the V.E.T.S. Program. V.E.T.S (Veterans Embracing the Tools for Success), is a program designed to provide Veterans incarcerated in the Montgomery County Jail with valuable resources in one central location. The program also affords them the opportunity to engage in a military culture that is second-nature to them. Since its inception, over 260 incarcerated Veterans have participated in the program.

The V.E.T.S. program partners with different organizations to further address any post-incarceration needs, and potentially provide employment opportunities for the Veterans. During their stay in the program, the Veterans work with organizations such as Refuge Trauma & Counseling, Tri County Behavioral Healthcare, Armatus Reintegration, Montgomery County Veteran Services, and many others to improve the Veterans’ overall well-being and chances of success once discharged from the jail.

Sheriff Rand Henderson stated that he was “immensely proud of the effort the jail staff, and our community partners continue put into this program. Its success is a testament not only of their belief in this program, but also their hard work to make it a reality.”
