Sheriff arrests Four Females for Organized Crime
Beginning in December 2019, The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office began receiving multiple investigations involving thefts from purses from various businesses in Montgomery County. Detectives quickly discovered that in all the cases the victims were approached by the suspects who engaged them in some type of conversation while shopping.
The conversation distracted the victims who were asked for help, such as removing an item from a shelf. While distracted, another suspect would remove the victim’s wallet from their purse and conceal it. The suspects would then leave and that store and go to another store to purchase items using the stolen credit cards. The targeted victims were typically elderly females who placed their purses in the shopping cart, leaving them vulnerable once distracted. MCSO has eight active cases on some or all of these suspects and PCT 3 Constables Office is investigating an additional case.
Detectives assigned the cases distributed flyers of the suspects to various businesses in The Woodlands area in an attempt to identify the suspects. As a result, on February 8, 2020, The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received a call from employees of the Target store located at 1100 Lake Woodlands Dr. The Woodlands, TX. Target employees recognized the suspects from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office flyer and notified the Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies and Detectives arrived on the scene and continued their investigation.
