About Cassidy Joined For Hope

After losing their beautiful 16 year old daughter, Cassidy, to suicide in 2015,  the Hess family created the Cassidy Joined for Hope Foundation to make sure this tragedy does not happen to any other family in their community.  Cassidy Joined for Hope, Inc. is a national 501(C)(3) non-profit foundation focused on teen suicide prevention in the schools and community.  They recognize that teen suicides are not isolated instances, but the second leading cause of death for ages 10-24.  No community or family is immune.

The Cassidy Joined for Hope Foundation also helped create the “Joined for Hope” school clubs.  The purpose of the clubs is to break the silence about mental health and teen suicide by beginning these conversations in the schools… focusing on preventative measures, self value, anti-bullying, social media dangers, making teens understand that they are NOT alone in how they feel, and simply spreading the powerful message that Kindness Matters. Learn more at https://www.cassidyjoinedforhope.com/school-clubs.html

On Friday, May 1 at 11 a.m., Cassidy Joined For Hope will live stream a “Talk Saves Lives” presentation to the Cassidy Joined For Hope Facebook page to kick off Mental Health Awareness Month during the month of May. The presentation will cover what they know about this leading cause of death, the most up-to-date research on prevention, and what we can all do to fight suicide. Participants will learn the common risk factors for suicide, how to spot the warning signs in others, and how to keep ourselves, our loved ones and those in our community safe. The more we know, the more we can help.

Cassidy Joined for Hope has partnered with Reflective Media Productions in creating a series of Public Service Announcements (PSA’s) that can be shown in schools and throughout the community to further their mission of teen suicide prevention.  These PSA’s are designed to be a tool to help start  these important conversations by educating the public in recognizing the signs, knowing how to respond, and knowing the available resources.

Sometimes everything looks good on the outside, but it’s entirely different on the inside.  If we are going to prevent suicide, we are all going to have to look up, reach out and start meaningful conversations. Simply ask, “are you ok?” Watch the PSA below:
