MCYS Announces RFP for Shelter Construction Contractors

By  |

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX – YES to YOUTH Montgomery County Youth Services (MCYS) has announced plans to double capacity at BridgeWay Emergency Youth Shelter. Through partnership with Montgomery County Community Development, the organization is building two new youth cottages on its property and renovating the existing shelter into a multi-purpose building. The renovation will give MCYS the opportunity to serve more youth in Montgomery County.

Bids are being accepted by Montgomery County Purchasing for this project. If you or someone you know is interested in building the new facilities, please see the bid package and building plans on Montgomery County Purchasing’s website.

On March 5th at 10:00 a.m. Montgomery County Purchasing is hosting a question and answer meeting in their offices at 501 North Thompson, Suite 405 Conroe, Texas 77301. Completed bids are due back to Montgomery County Purchasing by 2:00 p.m. on March 20th.

BridgeWay is a co-ed, short term shelter program for homeless youth ages 10 – 17, who are in need of a temporary place to stay that is safe, secure, and provides immediate support. Every year BridgeWay turns away over 1,000 youth due to lack of space.

There will be separate girls and boys cottages each housing 15 beds, and the current shelter will be renovated into a multi-purpose building.
