Local Boy Scouts Collect 9,000 Pounds of Food for Interfaith Food Pantry

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX – Boy Scouts from the Tall Timbers District, Sam Houston Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, collected almost 9,000 pounds of food in south Montgomery County Saturday, February 2 during the 2019 Scouting for Food drive to benefit the food pantry at Interfaith of The Woodlands. Scouting for Food is part of a national campaign in participation with the Souper Bowl of Caring initiative.

Interfaith Food Pantry relies on donations from the community to assist the nearly 19,000 individuals the organization serves every year. Interfaith of The Woodlands is a nonprofit social service agency providing numerous programs and services to meet the needs of The Woodlands and the surrounding area.

The Tall Timbers District encompasses scouting units in Conroe Independent School District (south of the San Jacinto River) which serves The Woodlands, Oak Ridge, and Shenandoah. The Tall Timbers District is located in the Sam Houston Area Council, Boy Scouts of America.

The mission of the Tall Timbers District is to provide leadership and vision to its units through training, program support, membership growth opportunities, and recognition of success in leading youth to lifelong values, service, and achievement. The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical choices over their lifetime by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
