Lake Conroe Operations: Tropical Depression Imelda

By  |

The center of Tropical Depression Imelda is now drifting over SW Montgomery County.  The heavy rains focused close to the coast should weaken this morning and redevelop further inland over the flash flood watch area.  A band of storms is likely to develop generally along the I-69 corridor this afternoon.  Where the line redevelops is still in question.  There has been no change to the expected rainfall forecasts of an additional 2-4 inches with isolated amounts of 6 inches this afternoon through Thursday morning.

At this time Lake Conroe remains 27 inches below normal pool level of 201 feet above mean sea level.  With less than ¼ inch of rain in the watershed in the past 24 hours, all Lake Conroe dam gates remain closed and the water release rate is 0 cubic feet per second.  Check lake level and release information in real time at: [www.sjra.net]www.sjra.net.

San Jacinto River Authority (SJRA) continues to coordinate with numerous operational partners to include: Montgomery County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Harris County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, National Weather Service, and the River Forecast Center.
