Houston Grand Opera Brings “The Elixir of Love” to Pavilion

By  |

Beautifully written melodies and charming arias come to life as the Houston Grand Opera presents “The Elixir of Love” May 26 at 8 p.m. at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion and sponsored by The Wortham Foundation.

In one of Donizetti’s most beloved comic operas, a love-stuck young man is determined to win the affections of the village beauty. Knowing she favors the attention of a boastful Captain, there’s only one thing to do – employ the help of a scheming traveling doctor and his cure-all “magic” potion.

Tickets are $20 for orchestra seating and the lawn and mezzanine are free. Tickets are not required for free seating. Pre-performance activities begin at 7 p.m. in the North Plaza and include The Pavilion Partners arts & crafts booth and Instrument Petting Zoo as well as activities by Mercedes-Benz of The Woodlands, Woodforest National Bank, Fogo de Chao, Fidelity and Tommy Bahama. At all performing arts shows, guests are welcome to bring a picnic from home or their favorite restaurant to enjoy in their seat or on the lawn. Keep in mind, however, that beverages are not allowed to be brought into The Pavilion. Lawn chairs are also provided free for this event.

Preferred parking is available in the on-site Town Center Garage, located along Six Pines Drive. Parking is $10 per vehicle for this and most performing arts events. Tickets for on-site parking can be purchased in advance at Ticketmaster.com and The Pavilion Box Office. Guests also may park in any of the five free parking lots on the southwest side of The Pavilion. The free, color-coded lots are connected to The Pavilion by corresponding pathways with signs leading across The Waterway.

The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion’s 2017 Performing Arts Season is sponsored by Huntsman, The Woodlands Development Company, Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, Woodforest National Bank, Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands, The Wortham Foundation, The Pavilion Partners, Mercedes-Benz of The Woodlands, United Airlines and Live Nation. The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion acknowledges the financial support of The Woodlands Township that is generated by the Event Admissions Tax for its performing arts and educational outreach programs.
