Economic Outlook Conference 2017: “Texas has a bright future”

The 2017 Economic Outlook Conference “Fully Charged: Moving Forward” was hosted by The Woodlands Area of Commerce on Friday, January 27 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott and Conference Center. Hundreds attended the conference as businesses, organizations, state and local representatives, and members of the community gathered to listen to “the largest line up of speakers in the 31 year history of the conference,” as noted by JJ Hollie, The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce President & CEO.

Zach Richmond of Richmond Realty shared why he was looking forward to learning at the conference:

The day began with the popular “Community Update” presented by Mercedes Benz of The Woodlands then had area leaders including Texas State Senator Brandon Creighton, followed by Gil Staley, Chief Executive Officer of The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership. Alex Sutton and Tim Welbes, Co-Presidents of The Woodlands Development Company, Gordy Bunch, Chairman of The Woodlands Township and U.S. Congressman Kevin Brady of the 8th District completed the community update.

The morning keynote speaker, presented by Stibbs & Co., PC Attorneys, was Heidi Cruz, the Managing Director of the Investment Management Division of Goldman Sachs and wife of Texas Senator Ted Cruz.

Texas State Comptroller of Public Accounts Glenn Hegar concluded the conference as the keynote luncheon speaker presented by Cypressbrook Company. Elected in November 2014, Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar serves as Texas’ treasurer, check writer, tax collector, procurement officer and revenue estimator.

Matt Arceneaux of Great Works Office, a new coworking space in The Woodlands opening in 2017, shared a recap from the day’s events and takeaways from the conference:
