Donut-licious, A Family Owned Local Favorite in Spring

By  |

Donut-licious is family owned and operated by husband and wife Cam and Nimol In along with strong support from their daughter, Joceyln. Located near the corner of Spring Cypress and I-45 this is not your everyday, run of the mill donut shop. The array of flavors and colors are so incredible that most walk in and turn into the proverbial kid in a candy store and want to try one of everything.

Donut-licious has the standard flavors of donuts and kolaches that are found in most donut shops, but it’s their original flavors that keep fans coming back. Some of those original flavors include Lucky Charms,  Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Fruity Pebbles, Reeses peanut butter, root beer, strawberry cheesecake, turtle cheesecake, caramel macchiato, pistachio, dulce de leche, Samoa, green tea latte, Starburst, cotton candy, orange dreamsicle, red velvet, maple bacon, cinnamon sugar with cream cheese filling and more. The Long John’s are filled to order with your choice of chocolate, bavarian, lemon, cream cheese, raspberry, and other fillings. The team is always brainstorming for the next new thing and even offer seasonally decorated donuts for each holiday.

The savory side of Donut-licious offers sausage and cheese kolaches that come in three sizes: baby, mama and papa… basically small, medium and large. The smaller sizes are great if you have young ones or are not too hungry. Gourmet Kolaches include Crab Rangoon, Jalapeño Bacon Cream Cheese, Ham and Pepper Jack and Boudin. Croissants with ham, Swiss cheese, jalapeño, sausage, and/or egg and the Croissant Breakfast Sandwich with Egg and cheese and your choice of Bacon, Ham or Sausage. A customer favorite is the pan sausage kolache, a breakfast sausage patty with cheese and optional jalapeño slices completely wrapped in Donut-licious’ semi sweet kolache dough and baked to a golden brown.

If you’re craving sweet and savory, try the Donut Burger. Nimol describes it as  “essentially a breakfast biscuit sandwich, except we have replaced the biscuit with 2 glazed donuts.”

Hello Woodlands sat down with Nimol to find out more about their little mom and pop donut shops.

How did your family get into the donut business?

“I always remember saying I’m not going to get into the family business when I grow up! Well, guess what? I was totally wrong! We have been in the donut business for 3 generations! It started with my Dad’s side of the family and it just spiraled from there. Donut-licious was opened in memory of my father. He was the man that taught me the ropes and everything I know about this sweet bread. My family has always had a crazed obsession with the go to comfort goodness called donuts. Donut-licious was created with the intent of giving traditional donuts a twist and making them a gourmet experience.”

What makes Donut-licious so successful?

“Creating good experiences and offering a wide fun selections of gourmet donuts is the recipe for our success!”

Where did the name Donut-licous come from?

“We were all gather together brainstorming and our eldest daughter Jocelyn blurted the name Donut-licious. And we loved it! It was sweet, short and simple!”

Your signature donut is your red velvet cake donut. Can you tell us more about  that?

“When you bite into our signature red velvet it’s just amazing! It’s literally a moist cake the size of a donut. You can have it with cream cheese topping or go all the way with double dip chocolate cover and cream cheese. I must say it’s addictive.”

Who is the mastermind behind creating the over the top flavors and holiday themed donuts?

“It’s a family affair! Ideas are usually discussed during our sit down family dinners. We try to think outside the box and marry flavors together. Sometime it’s a flop and sometimes it’s clever. We love to eat out as a family and we find inspiration everywhere! I’m a cheesecake lover and thought it would be awesome on a donut. Holidays are so joyous and we love to decorate and so we love to dress our donuts up!”

Out of the entire menu what would you say is the most popular items?

“Everything is good but our Papa Kolaches and all the gourmet-flavored donuts never stay on our shelves long.”

Coffee and Donuts just go together. Tell us more about the coffee drinks that you serve.

“We offer hot Community Coffee and ice coffee. Café Sua Da is Vietnamese iced coffee and is blended using Café Du Monde grind. We also have an imported canned iced coffee that is a must try too! Fewer calories and less sweet compared to other brands. Great to wash your sweets down. When we hear how much you love our variety of flavors.
