Conroe ISD Seeks Prekindergarten Partnership Proposals

By  |

CONROE, TX – At their meeting Tuesday night, the Conroe ISD Board of Trustees approved the solicitation of public or private prekindergarten partnerships as required by House Bill 3.

Parts of House Bill 3, passed by the 86th Texas Legislature, impacts how Texas public schools provide prekindergarten. One of the changes requires school districts for the 2019-2020 school year to change half-day prekindergarten programs to full day programs, unless a district requests, and is granted a waiver from the state. Districts can submit waiver requests to the Texas Education Agency starting in January 2020.

To be eligible for a waiver, a school district must demonstrate the need to construct classroom facilities to provide prekindergarten classes. To apply for an exemption, a school district must solicit and consider, during public meetings, proposals for partnerships with public and private entities regarding offering full-day prekindergarten for eligible four-year students.

Therefore, Conroe ISD is inviting proposals for partnerships with public or private entities regarding required prekindergarten classes. Those interested in providing full day prekindergarten services through a partnership with Conroe ISD must complete the following Partnership Proposal. Submissions must be complete and submitted by 8:00 a.m. on Monday, December 9th. Questions concerning partnership proposal requirements should be submitted via email to Dr. Debbie Phillips, at dkphillips@conroeisd.net.
