Children’s Museum to host Homeschool Open House
THE WOODLANDS, TX – Area families are invited to take a sneak peek at the innovative, hands-on workshops coming to The Woodlands Children’s Museum this fall during a Homeschool Open House set for 10 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Monday, August 13.
The museum offers workshops for children ages 2-11. Class sizes are limited to ensure a small student-teacher ratio, and the workshops are presented by experienced educators with a talent for piquing childrens natural curiosity.
“Our workshops are designed to be a feast for the senses: interactive adventures that nurture children’s love for play and discovery while building students confidence,” said Angela Colton, Executive Director of the museum. ”These workshops also support our vision of supporting area families by providing them with cost-effective, conveniently located opportunities to help their children grow and explore.”
Families can take a sneak peek at the many workshops that will be offered by The Woodlands Childrens Museum this fall during a Homeschool Open House August 13.
The workshop instructors, along with Educational Coordinator Katie Lundquist, will be on hand throughout the open house to answer parents’ questions. Parents are encouraged to explore the instructors’ stations to get a feel for the innovative curriculum that guides each class. Instructor Kevin Borey, for example, will be presenting stations to introduce visitors to the museums robotics workshops.
These classes range from Lego Frenzy Meets Righteous Robots, where children ages 5-6 get to make their own programmable robots, to E.A.R.L.Y. Robotics, which gives children ages 7-10 experiences in robot design, teamwork and robotic competition.
The open house also will feature displays that highlight the Extreme Science workshops, which are presented by Robert Roach, an educator with more than 30 years of experience teaching science. Extreme Science challenges children ages 8-11 to embark on fascinating investigations into the earth, life and physical sciences.
Additional displays will showcase ARTistik Adventure, a multisensory experiences in which children ages 5-10 experiment and create with a variety of media, and Got Science?, a six-week sessions for 4-5 year-olds where touching and getting messy is not only allowed - it’s encouraged!
