The Woodlands Children’s Museum will host a Texas Independence Day celebration Tuesday, March 3 featuring the Tall Texan cowboy.

From 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., visitors can meet the Tall Texan cowboy, who’s known for ropin’ tricks as good as all git-out, and pose for photos with him. Children also are invited to create Texas-themed art in The Muse, the museum’s art bar.

The celebration at the museum follows the official state holiday on March 2, which honors the adoption of the Texas Declaration of Independence on March 2, 1836.

“Families are invited to put on their best Texas duds and enjoy the day together,” Executive Director Angela Colton said. “Our celebration is designed to stimulate awareness about Texas culture and history…right here in our own backyard.”

The Woodlands Children’s Museum, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, was founded out of a desire to meet the community’s proven need for a positive environment where children and their families can learn, play and make special memories throughout the year. At the museum, fun and learning go hand in hand, whether children are creating art, singing along to a musical performance or conducting a science experiment. The museum also has made it a priority to bring children multi-ethnic and multicultural experiences that celebrate cultural and global differences and strengthen common bonds. Programs frequently are delivered in partnership with other nonprofit organizations, always with the goal of making a positive difference in the life of a child. For more information, visit woodlandschildrensmuseum.org or call 281-465-0955.
