Celebrate National Puppy Day with Clifford at The Woodlands Children’s Museum

By  |

THE WOODLANDS, TX – Families are invited to take part in an extended celebration of National Puppy Day with one of the biggest puppies of all time—a BIG RED DOG named CliffordTM, at The Woodlands Children’s Museum Friday and Saturday, March 22 and 23.

“It’s a Dog’s Life” will include scavenger hunts; visits with Clifford; and a bone-ified big, red art project throughout the two-day event.

On Friday, March 22, the museum will offer a Storybook Theatre reading of “Clifford’s Puppy Days” at 11:00 a.m. followed by a visit from K9 Obey Dog Training, who will provide an obedience training demonstration at 11:15 a.m.

On Saturday, March 23, museum visitors will also have a chance to show some love to dogs and puppies in their own community. Operation Pets Alive!, an area animal rescue organization, will be at the museum from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with pets in need of homes.

“Clifford the Big Red Dog is a perfect example of the joy puppies bring into their humans’ lives and what love and kindness mean to our pets,” Executive Director Angela Colton said. “After all, it was the love Clifford received from Emily Elizabeth that made him grow so big. We invite families to join our National Puppy Day celebration: We’re paws-itive they’ll have a wonderful time!”

“It’s a Dog’s Life” ties in with the Adventures with Clifford The Big Red Dog exhibit, which opened at the museum Jan. 18 and will be in place through Sunday, May 12.

Inspired by Scholastic Entertainment’s TV show, Clifford The Big Red Dog® on PBSKIDS®, the Adventures with Clifford The Big Red Dog exhibit offers numerous immersive “paws-on” adventures that reinforce “Clifford’s Big Ideas” – 10 simple tangible life lessons designed to help young children navigate their world. They are: Share, Play Fair, Have Respect, Work Together, Be Responsible, Be Truthful, Be Kind, Believe in Yourself, Be a Good Friend and Help Others.

Children can visit a colossal 9-foot tall Clifford with a tail to slide down, just like Emily Elizabeth does on the television show. Little visitors also can help fill Clifford’s big bowl with bones using a conveyor belt and find “bone”-ified treasures at T-Bone’s Beach.

Admission to the museum and “It’s a Dog’s Life” is $7 per person age 1 and older. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

To protect the health and safety of the museum’s costumed performers, Clifford the Big Red Dog will limit appearances to 15-minute stays. While the museum staff will do their best to accommodate as many patrons as possible, they will not be able to extend the appearance times.
