This year, a total of more than $1 million was raised by the premiere event. CASA Child Advocates of Montgomery County was awarded $50,000 during a check presentation at Waste Connections’ headquarters in The Woodlands on July 2, 2019.

CASA Executive Director, Ann McAlpin, shares, “Right now in Montgomery County, about 9 children enter foster care each week. It costs $1,500 to support one child with a volunteer Advocate for a year.” McAlpin continues, “This incredible donation from Waste Connections will allow us to provide more than 33 abused children with Advocates to look out for their best interests in the coming year.”

CASA Child Advocates is Montgomery County’s only organization appointed by the court to advocate for abused and neglected children. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) speak up for the best interest of children who have been removed from their homes and are under the Court’s jurisdiction. CASA’s goal is to continue to provide a court-appointed volunteer to serve as Guardian ad Litem for every child in the foster care system. For the past 27 years, CASA has been training volunteers, raising awareness in the community, and working to stop the cycle of child abuse in Montgomery County.
