By  |

THE WOODLANDS, TX – An evening full of surprises and groundbreaking entertainment awaits guests at the 25th annual CASA Speaks for Kids Gala at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott and Convention Center on Saturday, February 8, 2020. Presented by Huntsman Corporation, more than 600 guests are expected to fill the Grand Ballroom for this year’s event, which benefits CASA Child Advocates of Montgomery County.

CASA Speaks for Kids Gala

The theme for this year’s Gala is “Black, White, & Silver Ball.” CASA Executive Director, Ann McAlpin, explains the theme chosen for the annual fundraiser helps generate a celebratory atmosphere while drawing attention to a very serious cause. “The Gala is truly a party with a purpose,” McAlpin explains, “This one evening will help change the futures for more than 330 abused and neglected children in Montgomery County this year.”

The Black, White, & Silver Ball will feature silent and live auctions for a variety of select items, including one-of-a-kind jewelry, exciting trips, exclusive experiences, and much more.

The event also showcases a variety of crowd-pleasing games including a wine pull and liquor pull, a Tory Burch pull, a raffle for an exquisite diamond pendant and earring set courtesy of Thomas Markle Jewelers, and the Winning Wine game during which participants play for a chance to select a live auction item before the auction begins. Also back by popular demand, auctioneer Patrick Tully is sure to bring amusement to all.

The 25th annual CASA Speaks for Kids Gala promises an exciting change for the event’s after-party. Always a crowd-favorite and sponsored by Black Pearl Technology, this year’s gala will feature a VIP, 80s-inspired, neon glow concert by The Spazmatics.

Proceeds raised at the Gala benefit CASA Child Advocates of Montgomery County. It costs approximately $1,500 to provide a volunteer Advocate for one abused or neglected child for one year. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) speak up for the best interest of children who have been removed from their home and are under the Court’s jurisdiction. CASA’s goal is to continue to provide a court-appointed volunteer to serve as Guardian ad Litem for every child in the foster care system, and to break the cycle of abuse. For the past 28 years, CASA has been training volunteers, raising awareness in the community, and working to stop the cycle of child abuse in Montgomery County.

“The efforts that our CASA volunteers put forth on a daily basis is just amazing,” McAlpin explains, “They step up and serve as the voice for children whose future is uncertain, and they are making a difference, one child at a time. This event helps ensure we can continue to recruit and train volunteers to speak up for the 6 children currently entering foster care in Montgomery County each week.”
