THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS – National Bike Month is celebrated across North America in May, and for the sixth consecutive year The Woodlands will be also be celebrating this growing tradition with an abundance of fun events throughout the month for cyclists of all ages and abilities.

The Woodlands Township in partnership with Bike The Woodlands Coalition will be recognizing National Bike Month in May, and has planned more than 40 individual activities and events throughout the month. The highlight of May’s bike events will be “Bike The Woodlands Day” on Saturday, May 19, 2018, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Northshore Park.

This event has something for everyone, with exhibitors including local bike shops, bicycle clubs and other supporters of Bike Month. The event will also feature maintenance demonstrations covering basic bike maintenance and flat tire repair, bike safety information, children’s activities, a kids’ bike rodeo, live music, inflatables, food and more.

Attendees are encouraged to bike to the event. The first 300 bikers will receive a free Kona Ice snowcone, while supplies last. The Bike Swap Meet, which in past years was located at the Grogan’s Mill Farmers Market, will now be included at Bike The Woodlands Day. Bring your unwanted bikes and bike parts or come to find a good deal on bikes that others have to sell or barter. Individuals wishing to reserve a space at the Bike Swap Meet must RSVP at www.bikethewoodlands.org.

The kids’ bike rodeo is being provided by Texas Children’s Hospital. Staff and volunteers will also be on site to provide helmet checks and bike safety information for the entire family. Stop by the New York Life Insurance tent for a custom child ID, bring your off road bike to navigate the GHORBA (Greater Houston Area Off Road Biking Association) course, and visit with the many bike-friendly businesses in the park. If you would like to donate a bike in good working condition, please bring your donation to the event. Bikes will be collected and donated to Interfaith of The Woodlands to those in our community in need of bicycles. There is something for everyone at Bike The Woodlands Day. We hope you “Decide to Ride.”
