Become a Water Ambassador with The Township’s Watershed Project

By  |

THE WOODLANDS, TX –The Woodlands Township Environmental Services Department presents The Watershed Project workshop on Saturday, February 22, 2020, from 8:00 a.m. to noon at Houston Advanced Research Center (HARC), 8801 Gosling. This new program trains volunteers to become Water Ambassadors. This select group of trained individuals will work with the Township on water conservation efforts in the community through on-going opportunities. Space is limited. Please sign up today by registering online at www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov/environment.

Ambassadors can choose how they wish to participate. Some may present water-saving tips to neighborhood civic and social groups, others can assist with field studies for local school groups or train as water quality testing monitors, collecting pollution data on a local lake or stream. The workshop explains each of these opportunities and many more.

In addition, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) offers certification as a Texas Waters Specialist. These specialists are part of a larger, specially trained corps providing water conservation and protection service on behalf of the state. The Watershed Project provides training and resources to qualify for this certification, a great benefit to those interested in pursuing a career in natural resource management, habitat restoration or water quality monitoring.
