Annual Tomball German Festival and Honky Tonk Chili Challenge Cancelled

By  |

As a precautionary measure, due to concerns surrounding the Coronavirus, this year’s annual Tomball German Heritage Festival, scheduled for March 27th – 29th, and the Honky Tonk Chili Challenge on March 21st have been cancelled.

According to City Manager Rob Hauck, city management agonized over this decision. “These events bring thousands of people into close proximity of one another, so we feel this is the best action,” he said.

The events will not be rescheduled in 2020, however the annual German Christmas Market will take place December 11-13, 2020

Coronavirus is something for which the public should maintain an appropriate level of concern, however, the public at-large is still at LOW risk of contracting the virus.

The community should maintain as normal a life as possible, while taking reasonable precautions, such as:

  • Wash hands often
  • Don’t touch face
  • Cover mouth when coughing
  • Limit or cancel unnecessary travel
  • Practice “social distancing” in crowds, when possible (5-6 feet)

Tomball is just 28-miles northwest of downtown Houston on FM 2920 at State Highway 249.
