Residents invited to recycle beyond the curb at the annual 3R Bazaar

By  |

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (October 18, 2017) – Recycling goes beyond the curb when The Woodlands Township Environmental Services Department celebrates America Recycles Day at the 3R Bazaar on Saturday, November 11, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event takes place at the Township’s Parks, Recreation and Environmental Services facility at 8203 Millennium Forest Drive, next to The Woodlands High School practice fields.

In the spirit of promoting recycling beyond curbside service, the event offers collections of alkaline batteries, eyeglasses, textiles, flip flops, cellphones, corrugated plastic yard signs, and oral care products. Attendees can earn scholarship money for their Village by bringing CD and DVD disks and jewel cases for the Village Recycling Challenge and will also receive a raffle ticket entry when bringing an item to recycle at each individual booth.

Secure on-site document shredding will be available for donations of five cans of food or $5 per box. All proceeds benefit Interfaith Food Pantry.

Attendees will find unique and trendy items made from recycled materials at the Buy Recycled Boutique, an annual trunk show hosted by The Woodlands G.R.E.E.N.  From high tech to handcrafted, everything at the Buy Recycled Boutique has a story.

Children are invited to participate in arts, crafts and games promoting environmental stewardship and recycling education. Bring a T-shirt to up-cycle into a bag or dog toy at the No-Sew Boutique. Grant Manier, renowned eco-impressionist, will demonstrate his process of creating “coolages” out of recycled materials and invites children to join the fun!

Witness nature’s recycling process by attending a compost class led by the Montgomery County Master Gardener Association. Compost bins will be available on sale for $25. Scouts are encouraged to participate in the kids’ activity to earn a badge.
