THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (November 17, 2017) – The Woodlands Township officially opened The Recreation Center at Rob Fleming Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at noon Friday, November 10, 2017.

This new facility is located at 6464 Creekside Forest Drive, staffed with Township Parks and Recreation Department personnel, and will be operated Monday through Saturday throughout the year. Township staff will use the new recreation center to build a relationship with the neighborhood and community to better understand needs and wants, then develop programs in an attempt to meet these needs and the goals of the Township’s Parks and Recreation Department.

The programs offered at this new facility will include the traditional recreation programs found at the Recreation Center at Bear Branch for youth and adult enrichment, camps and various activities, as well as outdoor programs that will take advantage of the campus that includes teepees, tree houses and a close proximity to the George Mitchell Nature Preserve.

“We believe this new facility will be a great asset for all the residents of The Woodlands to enjoy,” said Township Chairman of the Board Gordy Bunch. “This new recreation campus also adds to the great appeal of Rob Fleming Park and the Rob Fleming Aquatic Center as an ideal place for activities and events.”

The facility was purchased for $4.5 million, and an additional $500,000 has been spent for initial improvements of remodeling and campus renovation. Amenity additions of $900,000+ in 2018-2019 will include a dog park, playground, adventure course and field lights.

In addition to recreation programs, this facility will also be used as a satellite location for Harris County Constable Precinct 4 to schedule meetings and perform office work. Residents will also have the opportunity to pick up property improvement applications and register for Neighborhood Watch programs.
