Local Artist with Disability Publishes Children’s Book

A children’s book about being different has been written and published by local, aspiring local artist Grant Maniér, who is living with a disability. The book, Grant the Jigsaw Giraffe –Different is MORE!, is breaking barriers. It’s a story that is based on Grant Maniér’s life, living with differences, and features an original, first-time ever seen jigsaw giraffe.

In the book, this unique giraffe follows his passion to become an artist despite his challenges. Offering a bonus, the book includes the dyslexia friendly font, which is designed for all readers, but allows those with reading challenges to read this book comfortably.   Also, for a limited time, a free digital app is available for download, where readers can meet the author and illustrator.   A product line of Jigsaw Grant giraffes and other animals will compliment the book’s release.

Not only is Grant Maniér an Eco-artist, he is a motivational speaker who has raised over $150,000 for great causes, encouraging and engaging his audience with his own distinct art style and message. His story personifies a child growing up with a “quirky” behavior because of his disability, maturing into a young adult, and finding his way as he transitions independently into the world of adulthood.

“This heart-felt story resonates with anyone who feels different, but not less … they’re MORE!” said Julie Coy Maniér, author of her son’s book.  The Maniérs were honored when Temple Grandin penned the foreword in the book.

The Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation purchased advanced copies of the book that will be given to children through their My Home Library program. This mother and son team is calling upon the community to raise awareness for the book’s release.
