Creating Keepsakes and Building Memories With Mom

By  |

On the hunt for a perfect gift for mom on her special day? What could be better than a frame-worthy piece of completely unique original art? Heart Paper Scissors is coming to The Woodlands Children’s Museum just in time for Mother’s Day gift giving.

On Saturday, May 13, Patti Rishforth, owner of Heart Paper Scissors, will be at the museum from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to create remarkable black and white silhouettes by snipping away at paper. She has more than 20 years of experience painting portraits and believes silhouettes “portraits of the soul” –capture the essence of a person.

In addition to taking home a unique, personal gift for mom, purchasing a silhouette will help raise funds for the nonprofit museum. The price for a silhouette is $35 each or $12 for additional copies. Ornaments are $24 and pendants are $40, and the museum will receive a donation of 20 percent of the total amount raised.

“”Patti is a gifted artist,”” Angela Colton, executive director of the museum said. “”It only takes minutes for her to make a hand-cut profile – so children don’t have to wait long to participate in making mom’s keepsake.””

The museum also will host a Mother’s Day Celebration from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 13. The party, “I love you Berry much!” will provide plenty of photo opportunities as mothers and children work together to create a homemade keepsake while enjoying berry lemonade and cookies. The cost to attend the party is $5 each for adults and children over the age of 1.

Admission to The Woodlands Children’s Museum is $6 per person 1 year and older, and will be required for these events. Activities are designed for ages 7 and under. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times at the museum, which is located at 4775 W. Panther Creek Drive, Suite 280.
